The American Star Awards represent the best of the best among thousands of American FFA Degree recipients. Finalists for the award have mastered skills in production, finance, management and/or research. FFA members who have earned their American FFA Degrees are eligible for the American Star Awards. American FFA Degree must be earned the same year that a candidate is applying for a Star Award. State FFA associations nominate American Star Award candidates based on the quality of their American FFA Degree and Star Battery applications.

The finalists for the prestigious FFA American Star Awards were announced Monday, less than three months from the start of the 87th National FFA Convention & Expo in Louisville. There, the four winners will be named in the areas of American Star Farmer, American Star in Agribusiness, American Star in Agricultural Placement and American Star in Agriscience. Continue reading
The Costa Rica Proficiency and Stars Travel Seminar empowers FFA leaders by providing them with a global perspective. Through this experience, participants gain knowledge by visiting farms and agribusinesses. This travel seminar is available to proficiency finalists and star finalists.
Day 1 – Friday, June 13
A three hour flight from Miami to Costa Rica took 63 national FFA Proficiency Stars and finalist, accompanied by advisors and national staff, to the start of their Costa Rican adventure.
After a dash through customs and to two charter buses, the group was headed toward InBioparque, an ecological park created by Costa Rica’s institute of biodiversity. Every member of the group enjoyed an ethnic Costa Rican lunch, fruit fresher than ever, plus some rice and beans. Once finished with lunch members were briefed on Costa Rica’s unique environment. Members then had the chance to explore the four different forest types found in Costa Rica, encountering a number of animal species native to the tropics. Continue reading
2012 American Stars Finalists at the 85th National FFA Convention & Expo.
The National FFA Organization has selected 16 students from throughout the U.S. as finalists for its top student achievement awards for 2013.
The American Star Farmer, American Star Farmer, American Star in Agribusiness, American Star in Agricultural Placement and American Star in Agriscience awards recognize FFA members who have developed exemplary agricultural skills and competency through career development programs, demonstrated outstanding management skills, earned an American FFA Degree and met other agricultural education, scholarship and leadership requirements.
We’ve selected 16 finalists for the organization’s top awards: American Star Farmer, American Star in Agribusiness, American Star in Agricultural Placement and American Star in Agriscience!
These awards recognize students who have accomplished amazing things through their FFA activities and agricultural education courses.
Each star finalist receives $2,000 from the National FFA Foundation and earns the opportunity to participate in an international experience tour to Costa Rica.
A panel of judges will interview the finalists and select one winner for each award at the 85th National FFA Convention, October 24-27, in Indianapolis, In. Winners will receive an additional $2,000 award.
