Jack Pitzer Earns AAEA Lifetime Achievement Award

Former National FFA Organization staff member and current National FFA Foundation Individual Giving Council member Jack Pitzer was recently honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award by the American Agricultural Editors’ Association at the 15th Agricultural Media Summit in Buffalo, N.Y.

Pitzer started his career in 1965 with The National FUTURE FARMER magazine in ad sales, then quickly moved into the editorial dept. He wrote Chapter Scoop and FFA in Action and the popular Joke Page. Pitzer also managed the National FFA Calendar Program and National FFA Week activities.

After the magazine name change to New Horizons, he moved to the communications department with duties to edit the Between Issues newsletter for teachers and Ag Ed folks and manage the National FFA Career Show. Pitzer also headed up the FFA Hall of Achievement or Archives. When the National FFA Center moved to Indianapolis in 1998, he helped close the National Center in Virginia. He continued to work as a contractor for FFA until 2009 managing the Career Show at the National FFA Convention.

After his career with FFA he started his own association management company, one client being the National FFA Expo. He continues to support FFA by serving on the National FFA Foundation’s Individual Giving Council.

Pitzer earned his Bachelors of Science in agricultural communications from the University of Illinois. He lives in Alexandria, Va., with his wife Pat. He enjoys barbershop harmony and is a 47 year member and leader of the Alexandria Harmonizers. Jack and Pat have three adult children – Mike, Matt and Mark.
